Statement from the Board of the FAI

The Board of the Football Association of Ireland welcomes today’s Stakeholder Forum organised by the Department of the Transport, Tourism and Sport at the Mansion House in Dublin and thanks all those who contributed to the debate on the future of Irish football.

The FAI and the Governance Review Group were represented at the meeting and look forward to the submissions which will now be made to the Group by those present.

The Board of the FAI remains committed to change and the Governance Review Group awaits the feedback from the Department following today’s Forum.

The Board of the FAI also notes all comments made today by Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross.

The employment of any person by the FAI is a matter for the FAI and the Board welcomes the Minister’s acknowledgement of the autonomy of the FAI in this regard.
