DIVISION 1 SUNDAY
ST. COLUMBAN’S…. 2 MARKIEVICZ CELTIC…..1
By DERMOT CLARKE
Well it appears I got my wires crossed. Apologies to champions St. Columban’s. They went through the shortened season with seven wins, one draw and a walkover, a game they most likely would have won anyway.
They’ve taken the crown from Markievicz Celtic thanks to a brace from Liam Reilly but they had to endure some hairy moments towards the end after Toby Webb reduced the deficit to one with 14 left.
Most notably when Glen Purcell headed home with a couple remaining only to be ruled offside. They were though down to ten men for the guts of an hour it has to be said.
A large crowd turned up on Glin Road to cheer on the new champs well done to John Coyne and all concerned. Sorry I wasn’t there but it slipped under my radar.
