Inter League Finals weekend a wonderful way to wrap up a memorable season:
26 finals in three venues featuring 52 teams and over 1000 players – both boys and girls – made the
SFAI Inter League finals a wonderful way to wrap up a memorable 2021-2022 season.
In Tim Fitzgerald Park in Charleville on Saturday six games took place.
Extra time needed in 12’s Girls Shield Final:
This was a cracking game between the two League who both brought a huge travelling and vocal
support that really made the occasion. The sides were unable to be separated in normal time. Into
extra time and it was Carlow that took the win 1-0 thanks to a Ciara Milton goal.
Three is the magic number for North Tipperary 13’s Girls:
North Tipperary captured the 13’s Girls Trophy thanks to a 3-1 win over Kerry. Kathlyn Carney scored
two for the winners with their third coming from Meda O’Shea. Louise O’Donoghue pulled one back
for Kerry in the first half to leave it 2-1 at the break.
NECSL 13’s Boys do the business in extra time:
Clare went 1-0 up in the 13’s Boys Trophy final thanks to a Sean Moore goal. However Harry McGurk
equalised for NECSL. That’s how it finished and so extra time was needed to decide the winner.
NECSL took the lead through an own goal and then Dylan McGlynn wrapped up the win 3-1.
Clare win 16’s Double:
It proved to be a very good day for the Clare League as they took the 16’s Boys Bowl and the 16’s
Girls Cup trophies back to the Banner.
Two goals from Kaden Herlihy in the first game of the day saw Clare defeat Cavan /Monaghan 2-0 in
the 16’s Boys Bowl Final.
Next up were the Girls and Kate Singleton put them 1-0 up but Freya Wiegard equalised for Limerick
County. The winner came from Clare’s Anna Steigerwald in the 63rd minute.
15’s Cup final sees all Waterford pairing:
The u15 Boys Cup final saw the unique pairing of the Waterford A ‘s taking on their B side in what
turned out to be a tight encounter. In the end the A’s won it 1-0.
Cahir Park Day 1:
Cahir Park was a busy spot with action on the grass and the all-weather on Saturday and Sunday.
In the Saturday games the DDSL took the 12’s Cup thanks to a 2-0 win over Waterford while the 12’s
Girls Cup went to Galway who were also 2-0 winners over MGL South A. In the 12’s Boys Bowl it was
Cork that took the spoils following a 2-0 win over Mayo.
The 12’s Girls Cup went West with Galway defeating MGL South 2-0 while in the 12’s Girls Trophy
Midlands were 1-0 winners over NECSL.
The 13’s Boys Cup saw Cork continue their winning run when they were 3-1 winners over the DDSL
in the decider. There was joy for the Midlands in the 13 Boys Bowl final as they saw off Mayo 4-2.
The 13’s Girls Shield went to Tipperary South as they were 3-1 winners over Mayo.
The 15’s Girls Bowl Final was won by the MGL South as they were 3-0 winners in their game against
Galway and the 16’s Boys Shield went to Limerick District after their 3-1 victory over Tipperary
