ROVERS AND RANGERS TO MEETIN LAWSON CUP FINAL SHOWDOWN

By Bernard O’Neill

Pike Rovers and Fairview Rangers will meet in the Lawson Cup final after Pike produced a nine-star semi-final show this morning.

The Hoops put nine without reply past Hill Celtic with Aidan Walsh leading the way with a hat-trick.Two-goal Eoin Hanrahan, Conor Kavanagh, Jonathan Grant, Colin Daly and Evan Patterson were also on target in an emphatic home win

Pike are also through to the Munster Junior Cup final and will meet FAI Junior Cup finalists St Michael’s in Jackman Park at a date to be confirmed (likely May 18) aiming for three in-a-row in a repeat of the 2017 MJC final which Pike won.

Limerick sides are the only teams to win three on the bounce in the MJC, with Star Rovers claiming provincial glory in 1983/84/85 and Fairview Rangers winning three on the trot in 1998/99/2000.

It’s going to be a busy month for St Michael’s as they meet Sheriff in the FAI Junior Cup final before taking on Pike

.Sheriff edged past Aisling Annacotty in yesterday’s FAI semi-final thanks to a first half Stephen Maher penalty in Clonshaugh.

Meanwhile, Hyde Rangers claimed the Division 2A Lipper Cup following a 2-1 win over Glenview Rovers at Jackman Park this afternoon.

Evan Shine and Ger Nash netted for Rangers with Frank Lane replying for Glenview.
