Regional United blew the Limerick District Premier Division title race wide open with a 4-2 away win over defending champions Janesboro this morning.
The win leave the Boro four points ahead of second place Pike Rovers, who they will meet before the season ends, but with two more games played than Pike.
Ballynanty Rovers, six points behind the Boro, but with two games less played, are also in the mix. Elsewhere in Limerick’s top flight this morning, Prospect Priory beat Nenagh 5-2.
Two-goal Pa Whelan, Trevor Hogan, Dean Glasheen and In Clancy did the business for Prospect. Fairview Rangers put seven past struggling Kilmallock with Jeffrey Judge and Glen O’Connor notching two goals each.
John Mullane and James Fitzgerald also netted. FAI Junior Cup semi-finalists Aisling Annacotty beat Geraldines 2-1 with goals from Jason Lipper and Ben Banahan. Bobby Tier replied for the Dines.
Meanwhile, Pike Rovers advanced to the semi-finals of the Lawson Cup following a penalty shoot out win over Ballynanty Rovers this afternoon.
Jonathan Hannafin struck to cancel out Ball goal in the second half. Neither side managed to net in extra time and Pike held their nerve from the spot to progress.
