Cork City v Peamount United ![]() |
THE RTÉ cameras will be in Tallaght Stadium on Saturday, December 12th to broadcast the FAI Women’s Senior Cup Final for the first time as a standalone event. Cork City have been drawn as the home team as they take on Peamount United in the last game of the 2020 season. Winners of this competition in 2017, Cork City have impressed this year with a squad made up of players with an average age of just 20 years old. Peamount United have been runners-up in the last two years but are now chasing a domestic double having retained the Women’s National League this season. TEAM NEWS Cork City will be without both Kate O’Donovan and Leah Murphy, while Peamount United are missing Louise Corrigan and Louise Masterson. QUOTES Cork City Manager Ronan Collins “It’s great to be involved in the showcase event for the women’s game. Now we’ve got here we aim to put on a show. “The growth of the coverage has been fantastic and the squad have really enjoyed the build-up over the week. “There is a good relationship between Peamount United and Cork City so it is great to meet them in the final. We will have to put that friendship on hold for 95 minutes or so.” Peamount United Manager James O’Callaghan “We are in for a tough game against a well-organised team with a good mix of youth and experience who have plenty of Cup Final experience; indeed winning it in the 2017. “They play a possession-based game, who like to play through the thirds and are clinical on set-pieces. We are really going to have to be on our game if we are to lift the Cup. “It’s brilliant to make our third FAI Cup Final in a row, great for all the volunteers who work so hard in the club. But it’s such a pity family members of the players and all the members of Peamount can’t attend the game, hopefully we can bring the Cup back to Peamount and make everyone proud.” SQUAD LISTS Cork City Goalkeepers: Maria O’Sullivan, Abby McCarthy, Leah Hayes Cohen Defenders: Zara Foley, Nathalie O’Brien, Danielle Burke, Ciara McNamara, Shaunagh McCarthy, Leah Murphy, Lauren Walsh, Lauren Singleton Midfielders: Eabha O’Mahony, Eadaoin Lyons, Katie McCarthy, Riona Crowley, Jesse Mendez, Becky Cassin, Kate O’Donovan Forwards: Christina Dring, Saoirse Noonan, Laura Shine, Sophie Liston, Lauren Egbuloniu, Nadine Seward Peamount United Goalkeepers: Niamh Reid-Burke, Naoisha McAloon Defenders: Lauryn O’Callaghan, Lauren Kealy, Niamh Farrelly, Chloe Moloney, Claire Walsh, Louise Corrigan, Jade Reddy, Dearbhaile Beirne, Niamh Barnes Midfielders: Lucy McCartan, Tiegan Ruddy, Karen Duggan, Sadhbh Doyle, Dora Gorman, Della Doherty, Megan Smyth-Lynch Forwards: Alannah McEvoy, Eleanor Ryan-Doyle, Aine O’Gorman, Louise Masterson, Becky Watkins, Stephanie Roche PREVIOUS MEETINGS August 16, 2020: Cork City 0-3 Peamount United (Women’s National League) November 14, 2020: Peamount United 3-0 Cork City (Women’s National League) MATCH PROGRAMME Click here to view the official match programme 2020 FAI WOMEN’S SENIOR CUP FINAL Cork City v Peamount United Saturday, December 12 KO 15:15 LIVE on RTÉ2 Tallaght Stadium Referee: Claire Purcell 2020 FAI WOMEN’S SENIOR CUP RESULTS Preliminary Round: Athlone Town 1-1 Bohemians (2-4 pens) Quarter-Finals: Bohemians 1-3 Cork City; Galway WFC 2-3 Wexford Youths; Peamount United 1-0 Shelbourne; Treaty United 2-0 DLR Waves Semi-Finals: Cork City 2-0 Treaty United; Wexford Youths 0-1 Peamount United LIST OF FAI WOMEN’S SENIOR CUP WINNERS 1975 – Limerick 1976 – Dublin Castle 1977 – Suffragettes 1978 – Dublin Castle 1979 – Dublin Castle 1980 – Suffragettes 1981 – Suffragettes 1982 – Dublin Castle 1983 – Glade Celtic 1984 – Dublin Castle 1985 – Rathfarnham United 1986 – Dublin Castle 1987 – Benfica 1988 – Rathfarnham United 1989 – Benfica 1990 – Rathfarnham United 1991 – Rathfarnham United 1992 – Welsox 1993 – Benfica 1994 – Welsox 1995 – Rathfarnham United 1996 – Castle Rovers 1997 – Shamrock Rovers 1998 – Shamrock Rovers 1999 – Shamrock Rovers 2000 – Shamrock Rovers 2001 – Shamrock Rovers 2002 – UCD 2003 – UCD 2004 – UCD 2005 – Dundalk City 2006 – Mayo Ladies League 2007 – Galway Ladies League 2008 – St Francis 2009 – St Francis 2010 – Peamount United 2011 – St Catherin’s 2012 – Raheny United 2013 – Raheny United 2014 – Raheny United 2015 – Wexford Youths 2016 – Shelbourne 2017 – Cork City 2018 – Wexford Youths 2019 – Wexford Youths |
