Pike salvage point off Geraldines after midweek thrashing of Janesboro

PIKE ROVERS were brought back down to earth this morning after their mid-week thrashing of Limerick Premier Division defending champions Janesboro.

The Hoops were held to a 2-2 draw by battling Geraldines with Bobby Tier and Cian O’Donoghue netting for the Dines who were 2-1 up at one point.

Steven McGann and Conor Kavanagh were on target for Pike who walloped Janesboro 6-1 in their opening game of the season last Thursday night.

Two-goal Eoin Hanrahan, Wayne Donovan, Johnathan Grant, Shane Walsh and Kavanagh netted for the Hoops in a six-star performance from last season’s runners up.

Shane Clarke replied for the Boro who edged Pike by a point for the title last season. The Boro bounced back from that reversal with a 1-0 over Aisling Annacotty this morning.

Aaron Noonan contributed the only goal of the game while Dan Lucey was on target for Ballynanty Rovers in a 3-2 win over Coonagh United.

Fairview Rangers and FAI Junior Cup semi-finalists Regional United maintained their 100% start to the season versus Prospect and Mungret Regional this morning.

Rangers thrashed Prospect 8-0, with Darragh Rainsford notching a hat-trick and Jason Lipper a brace. The View has now scored 12 goals in their opening two games and conceded none.

Donal O’Connell scored both goals to help Regional to a 2-1 win over Mungret and Danny Butler was on target for Nenagh AFC in a 1-0 win over Kilmallock on Saturday night.
