Pike put five past Pallas in FAI Junior

Pike Rovers beat battling Pallas United 5-1 in the area stage of the FAI Junior Cup this morning.

Keith Mawdsley, Oisin Kelly, Steven McGann, Eoin Hanrahan and Jonathan Grant netted from the Premier Division leaders and former FAI Junior Cup holders who were 1-0 up at half time.

Three-time FAI Junior Cup finalists Ballynanty Rovers, who are 4 points behind PIke in the Premier table, put nine without response past Wembley Rovers. 

Conor Ellis with another hat-trick, new signing Ciaran Hanlon, Barry Quinn, Dylan Kelly, Adrian Power and Thomas Lyons got amongst the scorers for a formidable-looking Balla side who have scored 20 times in their last two games.

Elsewhere this morning, Aisling Annacotty thrashed fellow Premier outfit Kilmallock 10-1 with Shane Clarke netting a hat-trick for last season’s FAI semi-finalist. Paudie Walsh, James Cleary, Thomas Clarke and Aaron Murphy were also on target. 

In the other all Premier clash, Coonagh United saw off Mungret with Ger Myles burying the only goal of the game and Geraldines thrashed Granville 11-0. 

Last season’s FAI semi-finalists Regional United beat Shelbourne 8-0 and Charleville beat Murroe on Saturday night while Hyde edged Holycross 1-0.

Moyross saw off Castle 5-1 with Anthony Quinn claiming the match ball following a brilliant hat-trick and Star Rovers beat Summerville 4-3 in an end to end cup tie.
