PIKE ROVERS remain top of the Limerick Premier Division after edging nearest rivals Ballynanty Rovers 4-3 at the Limerick Institute of Technology this morning.
Six of the seven goals arrived in the second half after Jonathan Grant fired Pike into a 1-0 half-time lead after linking up with Eoin Hanrahan.
Kevin Nolan netted for Balla to make it 1-1 after the interval but Keith Mawdsley edged the Hoops back in front before Conor Ellis levelled the game from the spot.
Mawdsley struck again midway through the half but Ellis converted another penalty to restore parity. With both sides looking destined to share the spoils, Conor Kavanagh headed home a Shane Walsh cross to secure a thrilling win.
Elsewhere this morning, defending Premier League champions Janesboro were held to a 2-2 draw by Coonagh with Aaron Noonan and Ger Myles getting amongst the scorers for either side.
Karl Turner and Danny O’Neill were on target for Geraldines in a 2-1 win over Kilmallock and Aisling Annacotty put five without reply past Prospect with Eoin Burke, Shane Clarke, Tom Clancy and Paul Storan netting.
Eddie Byrne and Jason Lipper did the business for Fairview Rangers in a 4–2 win over Regional United and Mungret beat Nenagh 5-0.
