Pike Rovers and Ballynanty Rovers are joint top of the Premier Division following a full program of fixtures in Limerick’s top flight this morning.
Balla, who beat Fairview Rangers in mid-week, needed a second-half strike from Adrian Power to see off battling Prospect Priory 1-0, while Pike, with the aid of an OG, toppled Coonagh United 4-1.
Two-goal Eoin Hanrahan was on target for Pike with Pa Mullins completing the scoring with a late header from a Shane Walsh corner. Ger Myles replied for United.
Defending champions Janesboro bagged the points in a 2-0 victory over Mungret Regional. Pat McDonagh did the business for the Boro with a brace, while Fairview Rangers bounced back from their reversal to Balla with a 3-0 win over Nenagh United.
Darragh Rainsford notched two goals and Paul Danagher also netted for the View in a comfortable win.
Regional United put four past Geraldines this morning with Shane Dillon, Paudie Hartigan and Paul Sheehan getting amongst the scorers for last season’s FAI Junior Cup semi-finalists in a 4-1 win.
Elsewhere, Aisling Annacotty, who also reached the last four in the FAI last term, came from a goal down to beat Kilmallock 5-2. Killian Malone, Colm O’Reilly, Aaron Murphy, Mark McGrath and Nathan O’Callaghan did the business for Aisling.
Following today’s action, Janesboro, Fairview and Regional are just one point adrift of table-toppers Pike and Ballynanty.
Pike meet Fairview at home on Thursday evening while Balla are away to Mungret Regional and Janesboro host Geraldines.
