Phoenix Park pitches at 15 Acres now available to clubs outside of LFL

THE FAMOUS 15 Acres in the Phoenix Park has been home to legions of grassroots soccer players for decades.

Many a club and player has cut their footballing teeth on the wide open plains where they share the playing pitches with the reindeer and visitors to the Papal Cross.

The Leinster Football League in conjunction with the Office of Public Works oversee the running and supervision of the pitches and remedial work in recent years has seen the quality of surface improve dramatically.

We now provide a significantly improved playing surface that is on a par if not better than many pitches being utilised on public utility leasing in the capital. Legendary Patsy Brown – the Leinster Football League’s Referees Allocations Officer – is also the LFL Park Steward and after a long career as a referee himself, Patsy is a familiar figure to clubs as they arrive for their matches at the changing rooms in the 15 Acres.

What’s great for club’s utilising the facility is their ability to turn up and play. All the hassle of hanging nets, marking pitches, placing corner flags is all part of the letting arrangement and it really is just a matter of turning up and playing.

The dressing room area has been upgraded and while not exactly Wembley, you do have a dry changing room and the offer of a hot shower after your game. Simple but effective – and there is even a baby changing facility on site.

The venue has been a great starting point for many clubs as they set out on their journey into the grassroots game in Dublin. It has allowed clubs to develop without the worry of maintaining pitches or dressing rooms.

That facility which heretofore has been for clubs of the Leinster Football League is now being opened up to clubs of other leagues for the 2020-2021. If you are a member of a league other than the Leinster Football League, you are welcome to use our facilities.

Here’s the perfect opportunity to start your journey into football with a ready to play facility – pitches, dressing rooms, showers, parking and a massive LFL welcome to boot! If you are a schoolboy or junior club, we can look after your needs.

We have excess capacity and have excellent pitches available  to rent on a short or long term basis. WE can provide pitches for all you teams and give you a base to help alleviate pressure of other facilities your club utilises.

There is ample parking and we can schedule arrival and departure to meet current Covid-19 ‘social distancing’ protocols. As clubs and leagues prepare for their return to action we now invite all interested parties who are looking for additional playing pitches and changing rooms to make contact with the O’Neills Leinster Football League.

If you are a new club and would like to join the Leinster Football League we would also be delighted to talk to you and discuss a tailored package to suit your needs.

Reasonable prices and we can assure you of a big welcome regardless of who you are affiliated to.

WE are delighted to welcome all lovers of the Beautiful Game to the iconic 15 Acres. As Dublin as It Gets!

Please contact Leinster Football League President Tony O’Dowd on 087 9224322 or LFL League Secretary Paul Henderson on 087 1277207
