McGreal and Walsh help put LSL in driving seat in Ward Interpro series

GOALS from Crumlin United strikers Craig Walsh and Alan McCreal helped Andy Noonan’s side take control of their own destiny in their opening fixture of the Michel Ward interprovincial series at Abbotstown last night.

Amateur international goalkeeper Brendan O’Connell was beaten twice with two majestic strikes that gave the netminder no chance of making a save while Christor McCarthy’s reply for the Munstermen was from the penalty spot.

It as a typical frenetic derby encounter with no quarter asked or given, but Noonan’s troops played some great football on the night and were well deserving of their success.

Out in Ashbourne Connacht came within a whisker of claiming all the points with Jordan Loftus’ penalty looking as if it would be good enough to take the spoils only for Ryan Rainey to pop up with a last minute equaliser.

The action continues today with the LSL facing Ulster and Munster taking on Connacht. Tomorrow hosts Leinster will face Connacht and Munster and Ulster will face off.
