Harte strikes late to keep Cartron in control over battling Merville United

In the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League Cartron United were at home to Merville United with both sides creating some chances in the first half but unable to break the deadlock.

It was Ryan Lynch who put Cartron ahead in the 52nd Minute and this was quickly followed up two minutes later with a goal from Enda Mc Gowan.


Jonathon Harte put things beyond the reach of Merville with his strike in the 75th minute.

Darragh Crowne Did pull one back for Merville With 10 minutes remaining.

St Johns were hosts to Aughanagh Celtic and were well on top in the first twenty minutes and were rewarded for their efforts when Keith Lynch put his side ahead after 25 minutes.

Marcus Guckian equalised for Aughanagh to leave the sides level at half time.

Aughanagh Increased their Lead in the second half with goals from Kieran Kilfeather and Niall Craig.

Conor Brennan pulled one back for St Johns. However despite having a man sent off Aughanagh held on to claim the three points.

Strand Celtic took on Ballisodare United in Strandhill and dominated matters for the first 20 minutes and it was Conor Mc Keown who put the home side in front.

Ballisodare united pressed on and were awarded a penalty before half time

The Strand Celtic goalkeeper Basquille managed to save Darragh Healys effort but Healy was quick to react  to the rebound and levelled matters

The second half was evenly balanced with both sides creating chances but it was the home side who took all three points today when they were awarded a penalty and it was Mc Keown who scored his second from the spot.

MCR and Carbury produced another close encounter today and both sides unable to open the scoring from the chances they created in the first half, it was Gareth Kelly who broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute.

It stayed like this until the 80th Minute when Alleyu Menay Sasey stuck to equalise.

MCR did have a chance in the last minute to go ahead but it was Ryan McManus who scored the winner in injury time to give Carbury their victory  

In the Sligo Pallets Premier Ballymote Fc took on Gurteen Celtic Fc in a crackingl local derby and things were looking good for the visitors when Ross O Dowd Put Gurteen ahead in the 30th minute, their lead was increased five minutes later when Colm Gallagher took his chance well.

Mark Irwin struck for Ballymote to reduce the defecit on the 42nd minute. In the second half Ballymote came out firing on all cylinders and levelled matters in the 60th minute.

Both sides battled courageously and it was inform striker Mark Irwin who scored a screamer in the 80th Minute to give victory in a very close contest to the Home side

Calry Bohs were at home to Carrick own and were unfortunate not to go ahead in the first

Half when n they missed a penalty both sides created chances but were unable to score

The second half proved different and it was the Visitors scoring Five Times to take

 the three points today with a goal each from Callum O’Hara, Conor Mc Goldrick, Kyle Mc

 Nubla, Ryan Duarte and. Shane Byrne.

Real Tubber took on Coolaney United with The Venue been Switched to The Astro Pitch

In Ballisodare. Real welcome back Raffael Cretaro to their Side after 20 years. Matthew

Mullhern hit a hattrick for Real Tubber and Goal each from Eoin Walsh and Brian Moraghan was enough to secure victory For Real Tubber. Stanley Harte was on the scoresheet for Coolaney United.

Ballygawley Celtic took on Yeats United it was Donal Fidgeon who put Yeats ahead in the first half

And it was Fidgeon who struck Twice again in the second-half completing his hat -trick to secure the three points for the Visitors


Red Cards issued today see’s an Automatic One Match Suspension for the players in their next league game and fined €30 All fines payable within 7 days to League Treasurer Robert Kennedy 69 Cloondara Ballisodare Co. Sligo.

Civic Reception:

Mayor of Sligo Gino O’Boyle will host a Civic Reception on Monday the 16th of December in jonour and recognition of junior soccer their clubs and affiliates.

Each club will receive a formal invitation to this event and are asked to send two representatives to this wonderful occasion which will also include our referee’s branch, sponsors, local media, including Ocean FM, Sligo Weekender, Sligo Champion, and Leitrim Observer.

The occasion will be marked by a presentation to each club to mark the event so please mark your diary.
