FREEBOOTERS FC……..5 ST KEVIN’S BOYS……..1
DANNY Mhandiwa gave St Kevin’s Boys an early lead in the O’Neill’s LFA Youths final at the AUL Complex but the Marble City men were level just three minutes later at the AUL Complex on Suday afternoon.
A brilliant move involving Niall Rowe and Zac Hammand saw the latter rounding Ross Leonard to level the tie with a simple tap in.
Level at the break the men from Co Kilkenny got their noses in front when Hammand – just short of the second half water-break – finished from 10 metres out for his second goal of the afternoon.
The Saints came close to an equaliser when a good glancing header from Calib Quyasi just hadn’t enough power to trouble Jack Doyle in the Freebooters goal.
From then on Freebooters dominated and Hammand in particularly imposed himself on the game and he set up Cian Dunne to make it 3-1 with 10 minutes to go and then a one-two between Hammand and Jack Conally saw the skipper put the game beyond doubt.
The icing on the cake arrived just before full-time as Hammand completed his hat-trick with a smart finish from close in.
Watching LFA Youths manager Joey Malone nominated Hammand for the Man of the Match title while skipper Conally collected the cup from LFA official Gerry Gorman.
