Five star Home Farm 14s march on into ‘open draw’ after seeing off battling Portmarnock

HOME FARM FC……5 PORTMARNOCK AFC…..2

HOME FARM Under 14s raced into an early three-nil lead which sewed the seeds of this fully deserved success over Portmarnock AFC in Saturday’s SFAI Cup tie at Mobhi Road.

That blistering start gave the blue and white hoops firm control of the encounter although the visitors pulled a goal back just before the interval from a stunningly executed freekick.

Then Portmarnock added a second to leave just one goal between the sides with the match very much back in the melting pot. But it was the home side who steadied their nerves to reimpose themselves  and two further goals were tagged on to leave the score at 5-2 and a fair reflection on the scoreline.

Both sides attempted to play constructive football and it produced an entertaining encounter, but it was Home Farm who march on into the open draw of the All-Ireland competition.

On the mark for Home Farm was Arber Ferizaj (2), Gary Comiskey, Des Cronin and Ben Fagan.

Portmarnock’s goalscorers were Oisin Bolton and John Farrell
