FAI Inter league youths crown for Limerick

The Limerick District League (LDL) claimed the Inter County Youth Cup after a 3-2 win over battling Waterford at Jackman Park in LImerick this afternoon.

Two goal Jorge Gustavo (Charleville FC) and Kyle Duhig (Fairview Rangers) secured the trophy for Martin Sugrue’s side at the Lower Carey’s Road venue.

Today’s win could be the first part of an historic double for the LDL as Limerick are through to the Oscar Traynor final versus Kilkenny.

The entire Limerick Oscar Traynor panel are the Janesboro Premier side who played  out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Pike Rovers on Saturday night.

The Boro, the defending champion, were 3-1 up at half time, courtesy of goals for Shane Clarke (2) and Adrian Power.

Jonathan Grant pulling one back for Pike late in the first half.Conor Kavanagh slotted home a penalty after the interval and Grant notched his second late on to leave Pike four points behind the Boro but with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, FAI Junior Cup semi-finalists Aisling Annacotty put four without reply past Kilmallock in the Premier League this morning.

Ben Banahan, Jason Lipper Colm O’Reilly and Jimmy Burke netted.Ballynanty Rover can move to within one point of Janesboro with an equal amount of games played if they beat Regional United in Dooradoyle on Thursday night. 

The race for the title was written off as a two horse race between the Boro and Pike up to a few weeks ago, but Balla have played themselves right back into the equation.
