DDSL CONFIRM RETURN TO STANDARD PLAYING SEASON FROM SEPTEMBER – SFAI NOTIFIED OF DECISION

THE Dublin District Schoolboys League has confirmed that it will return to playing a traditional season from September to May and will revert from this September.

The DDSL has trialled Calendar Year football for the past two season’s at the request of the Football Association of Ireland but agreed to survey all club’s in advance of making the move a permanent feature of the league which caters for 25,000 players in the greater Dublin Metropolitan area.

All league secretaries were today informed of the results of the survey which was approximately 75% in favour of reverting to the traditional season. The DDSL has also in formed the Schoolboy Football Association of Ireland of their decision

The following is the contents of the communication sent out to all clubs:

Dear Secretary

Following the results of the recent survey of DDSL clubs – we can now confirm that the League will be returning to the Standard Playing Season (September 2019 to May 2020). The SFAI have been advised of the decision of Our Clubs. 

We will commence the new season 2019/2020 on the first week-end in September for 9 & 11 aside teams and the following week for the Small sided games.

 The league will confirm ASAP how the current period of games will be brought to closure.
