Ballymun United and Blue Magic FC in partnership to build indoor dome

Ballymun United and Blue Magic FC are to partner in building an indoor dome at Ballymun’s club grounds adjacent to IKEA in Ballymun.

The partnership sees Ballymun United provide the ground for the development with Blue Magic FC driving the financial investment and outlay in delivering the project which will be of huge benefit to the football family in north county Dublin.

Ballymun United will also seek a Capital Sports Grant to assist in delivering the completed facility and once all planning and necessary applications have been met, the build time is approximately within 12 to 15 months.

It’s a hugely ambitious undertaking but the relationship between the two clubs is very strong and Blue Magic have used the club’s facilities for their academies which run on Friday and Sunday mornings and this season Ballymun United have entered a tam in the AUL Futsal League

Blue Magic Futsal are current AUL Futsal and FAI Futsal Cup holders and represented Ireland in the UEFA Fusal Champions League earlier this season.

Ballymun United’s executive have been fully appraised of the project and have fully endorsed moving forward with the project while Blue Magic hve undertaken significant preparatory work which includes securing an experienced installer in TILEA – a Polish based company – which has already delivered 31 fully operational domes in the Polish capital of Warsaw.

The indoor facility will be available to other local clubs while the construct will meet with competition regulations meaning it will be available to rent for competitive games.

A net curtain system will allow the 110 metre long pitch to be divided into smaller areas for training. It will be 23 metres high at it’s highest point and will be fully floodlit.

Jimmy Dunne: Ballymun United chairman

“It’s a great addition in terms of facilities for Ballymun United,” said chairman Jimmy Dunne. “To be able to announce a project like this in our 50th year is a great endorsement of what Ballymun United is about and how we look to serve the community. We have a great relationship with Blue Magic FC and we look forward to working hand in hand in bringing this project to fruition at the earliest opportunity.”
