AISLING ANNACOTTY advanced on penalties from their all-Premier FAI Junior Cup clash with Geraldines last night.
Both sides were tied at 3-3 after extra-time in Annacotty but Aisling held their nerve from the spot to progress on sudden death spot-kicks.
Two-goal Paudie Walsh and Mark McGrath were on target for last season’s semi-finalists in normal and extra time. Shane Cox, Barry Hartnett and Bobby Tier replied for the Dines in a thrilling cup tie.
Fairview Rangers beat Star Rovers 5-1 with James Fitzgerald getting amongst the scorers for the eight-time FAI Junior Cup winners. Prospect Priory, with Trevor Hogan notching a brace, beat Northside 3-1 and Newport toppled Moyross 4-2.
Elsewhere in the FAI Junior Cup, former champions Pike Rovers put eight without reply past Knockainey. Jonathan Grant (2), Keith Mawdsley (2), Shane Walsh, Kyle Duhig, Oisin Kelly and Conor Kavanagh were on target for the Hoops this morning.
Regional United advanced at the expense of battling Southend with Dave Cowpar and Willie Griffin netting for last season’s semi-finalists in a 2-0 win.
Meanwhile, Pike Rovers booked their ticket into the next round of the Touhy Cup after beating Regional 3-1 at Jackman Park on Thursday night.
Steve McGann and Jonathan Grant did the business for Pike who are joint top of the Premier League table with Fairview but with a game less played.
