Leonard Brassel, Managing Director of Sports Direct Ireland said: “We are proud to partner again with the FAI Summer Soccer Schools for the fifth year in a row. It has been an amazing journey to see the growth of the Soccer Schools throughout the country and be part of the commitment to grassroots football. For us as a business our football category continues to grow in Ireland offering parents big brands, quality and value across clothing, footwear and accessories”.

Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy hopes to see the children enjoy the camps throughout the summer.

“They will get structured coaching and will be well-looked after and safe. It’s the first start in a pathway, and some of the children playing in the Sports Direct FAI Summer Soccer Schools this summer could end up playing for Ireland in years to come”.

Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team manager Colin Bell says the camps are a great chance for boy and girls to get involved in the game.

It’s a chance for these children to be involved in a sport they love. Hopefully the the Sports Direct FAI Summer Soccer Schools can increase their passion for the game”.

Since Sports Direct have come on board as a partner the camps have gone from strength to strength. With 36,000 children taking part in over 400 camps in 2018, this year promises to be the biggest year yet with more camps being held around the country than ever before.
